"A year ago, I was paralyzed in a car accident," Clara announced to the hushed crowd. "My husband told everyone it was a tragic, unavoidable event. But what he didn't tell you was that he was driving. He was heavily intoxicated after a private business dinner."

"Julian used his family's money to bribe the responding officers and alter the police report. He paid off the witnesses, and then, to ensure I would never speak of that night, he drugged my daily tea and kept me isolated in our guest house, claiming I was too depressed to see anyone."
Julian grabbed her knees, sobbing openly now. "Clara, I did it to protect our family! If I went to jail, the company would have collapsed! I did it for us!" he pleaded, his voice echoing without the microphone. But the crowd was already turning on him. Journalists began snapping photos, the flashes illuminating Julian's disgraced face.
