The cold autumn rain poured mercilessly over the quiet suburban neighborhood, but the storm inside the house at 42 Oak Lane was far more devastating. Clara, heavily pregnant and shivering in a wet cream-colored sundress, knelt on the slick concrete of the patio. Julian looked down at his wife of four years with nothing but disgust.
