The hospital hallway erupted into chaos. Rachel, trembling with a mixture of adrenaline and pure rage, handed her baby to a stunned nurse and threw open the heavy suite door. She sprinted to where her mother lay whimpering on the cold floor. Richard stood over Margaret, casually adjusting the cuffs of his expensive suit, looking entirely unbothered by the crowd of onlookers gathered in the corridor.

"What did you do?!"

Rachel screamed, dropping to her knees to cradle Margaret’s head. Margaret was pale, her hands shaking as she tried to gather her scattered apples.

Richard sneered, stepping closer.

"Rachel, calm down. I was just removing a trespasser. Look at her—she looks like a vagrant. She’s ruining our family’s reputation in a prestigious hospital like this. I did what had to be done to protect our image."

"She is my mother, you monster!"

Rachel shrieked, her voice echoing down the hallway. The surrounding staff gasped, and several security guards immediately stepped forward, restraining Richard as he tried to back away.

Richard’s face drained of color.

"Your... your mother? But you said your family had nothing to do with the estate!"

He had married Rachel under the impression that her late father had left her a massive tech fortune, assuming her mother was a penniless estranged relative who had been written out of the will. He had spent years ensuring Rachel stayed away from Margaret, fearing the "poor old woman" would ask them for money.
