My Husband Laughed When I Fell at Our Wedding, So My Lawyer Walked In
The Fall of the Bride
The grand ballroom of the Plaza Hotel was a vision of absolute luxury. Thousands of white roses draped the walls, and the crystal chandeliers cast a warm, golden glow over the hundreds of high-society guests. It was supposed to be the happiest day of Emily’s life. She looked radiant in her custom lace gown, walking hand-in-hand with her new husband, Daniel. But as they approached the head table, disaster struck.
Emily’s heel caught on the heavy hem of her dress. She lost her balance and crashed to the polished marble floor, her chair tumbling down beside her. The sudden noise silenced the room. Emily lay there, her heart pounding, expecting Daniel to help her up.

Instead, Daniel stood there, a smug chuckle escaping his lips. He swirled his champagne glass and looked down at her.
"Wow, too slow,"he remarked, loud enough for the nearby tables to hear. A wave of cruel laughter rippled through the guests.
Before Emily could even process the humiliation, Daniel’s mother, Victoria, stepped forward. Dressed in a striking emerald green gown, she sneered at Emily with utter disdain.
"What a shame. She doesn't even know how to sit properly,"Victoria whispered loudly, taking a slow sip of her wine.
Tears welled in Emily’s eyes, but they weren't tears of embarrassment. They were tears of pure, cold realization. She slowly wiped her face, looked Daniel dead in the eyes, and slid the massive diamond ring off her finger. She dropped it onto the table with a sharp clink.
Right then, the grand double doors of the ballroom swung open. Michael, a sharp-looking lawyer in a charcoal suit, walked in carrying a heavy leather briefcase. Emily looked up at her shocked husband and whispered,
"My lawyer is already here."
