My Husband Ruined My Face For His Mother, So I Froze His Entire Empire
Previously: When Mariana's husband chose his toxic mother over her, he didn't realize Mariana held the keys to his entire family fortune. Her revenge was swift, cold, and absolute.
The Price of Betrayal
Three hours later, Ryan burst into the Montgomery corporate headquarters, his midnight blue tuxedo from the night before rumpled and his hair disheveled. Eleanor followed closely behind, her gold gown replaced by a desperate, hurried outfit. They demanded to see Mariana, pushing past security until they reached her top-floor office. Mariana sat behind a massive mahogany desk, wearing a tailored cream suit that perfectly hid the scratch on her cheek, though the faint red mark remained as a badge of her liberation.
"Mariana, what is the meaning of this?" Ryan yelled, slamming his hands on her desk. "You've ruined my company! Unfreeze the accounts immediately!"
Mariana didn't flinch. She slowly stood up and looked at her husband—the man who had shoved her to appease his mother.
"I didn't ruin your company, Ryan. You did," Mariana said, her voice calm and absolute. "The moment you laid your hands on me to defend her venom, you broke our marriage contract. The Montgomery Trust has officially repossessed the mansion, revoked your startup's funding, and terminated Eleanor's allowance."
Eleanor stepped forward, her face pale. "You can't do this! We are family!"
"Family doesn't abuse," Mariana replied, looking Eleanor dead in the eye. "You wanted a submissive wife for your son, Eleanor. Instead, you got the woman who owns your entire life."
Ryan fell to his knees, tears of desperation welling in his eyes. He tried to grab Mariana's hand, begging for a second chance, promising to cut his mother out of their lives forever. But Mariana stepped back, disgusted by his sudden spinelessness.
"You told me to never talk to your mother like that," Mariana whispered, echoing his words from the night before. "Now, you'll never have to worry about it again. My lawyers will handle the divorce."
As security escorted the ruined mother and son out of the building, Mariana looked out the window at the city skyline. She realized that true strength didn't come from the wealth she inherited, but from her willingness to walk away from those who didn't respect her.
True respect is never earned by tolerance of abuse; sometimes, the ultimate act of self-love is leaving the table where respect is no longer being served.
