My Husband Ruined Our Marriage for His Mother, So I Froze His Fortune
Previously: When Mariana's husband chose his manipulative mother over her and threw her out of their grand mansion, he forgot one crucial detail: she owned every single cent of his family's wealth.
The Illusion of Victory
Back inside the warmth of the mansion, Eleanor poured two glasses of expensive scotch. She handed one to Ryan, her voice dripping with artificial sympathy. "You did the right thing, darling. Mariana was always a social climber, trying to divide this family. Now we can finally live in peace." Ryan took a deep gulp, trying to drown the nagging guilt in his chest. He convinced himself that Mariana would crawl back. After all, she had nowhere else to go, and she relied on his family's immense wealth. Or so he thought.
The next morning, the illusion shattered. Ryan was at a high-end country club trying to settle a business lunch when his black titanium card was declined. Embarrassed, he tried three other cards, only to receive the same result. When he angrily called the bank, the manager’s voice was uncharacteristically cold. "Mr. Sterling, all accounts associated with your name, the Sterling Group, and the estate have been frozen due to a major legal restructuring."
Panic setting in, Ryan rushed back to the mansion, only to find three corporate moving trucks parked in the driveway. Men in suits were carrying out paintings, sculptures, and even Eleanor’s beloved antique furniture. Eleanor was screaming at them, her gold embroidered dress from the night before replaced by a silk robe, her face pale with terror.
"What is the meaning of this?!" Ryan demanded, grabbing the lead mover.
A man in a sharp grey suit stepped forward from the foyer. It was Arthur, Mariana's family attorney. "Mr. Sterling, your mother always assumed your family owned this estate. But she forgot—or perhaps never knew—that your father’s company went bankrupt ten years ago. It was Mariana's father who secretly bought out your family's debt, holding the deed to this very house as collateral. Upon his passing, that deed transferred solely to Mariana."
Ryan felt the room spin. "That's impossible. This is my family's legacy!" Arthur smiled thinly. "Not anymore. Your wife has officially revoked your access to her family's trust. You have exactly two hours to vacate the premises."
”You have exactly two hours to vacate the premises."
