Previously: When a mysterious stranger attacked Natalie at a luxury gala, her husband Robert defended her with brutal force. But the truth behind the assault would shatter her marriage forever.

A Warning in the Chaos

Security guards flooded the banquet hall, pinning a groaning Victor to the floor. Natalie was shaking uncontrollably, her hands still clutching her head where Victor had grabbed her. Robert stood over the fallen attacker, his knuckles bruised and his chest heaving under his rumpled tuxedo. He looked like a hero, but as Natalie looked up, she noticed a flicker of absolute panic in her husband’s eyes—and it wasn’t panic for her safety.

As the guards dragged Victor toward the exit, the bleeding man spat on the marble floor and locked eyes with Natalie.

"Ask him about Sarah, Natalie! Ask him where his first wife's inheritance went!"

The room went dead silent. Robert’s face drained of color. He quickly stepped in front of Natalie, trying to shield her from the man's words. "Don't listen to him, darling. He's a lunatic, a disgruntled former employee I fired months ago," Robert insisted, his voice trembling slightly. He turned to the crowd, apologizing for the scene, and urged the staff to clean up the mess.

But Natalie wasn't listening. She looked down at the floor where Victor had crashed. Beneath the shattered remains of the wooden chair lay a small, leather-bound notebook that must have slipped from Victor's jacket during the scuffle. While Robert was busy talking to the police, Natalie quietly slipped the notebook into her clutch.

Later that night, in the safety of their mansion, Robert fell into an uneasy sleep, exhausted by the evening's events. Natalie sat in the dark guest bathroom, her heart racing as she opened the leather notebook. What she found inside made her stomach drop. There were photos of her, of Victor, and most shockingly, of Robert's first wife, Sarah, who had allegedly passed away from an illness five years ago. Tucked into the back pocket was a copy of a bank statement showing a massive transfer of funds from Sarah's account to Robert's—dated just two days before her mysterious disappearance.
