After Her Husband Shoved Her for His Mother, She Froze Their Entire Fortune
Previously: When Ryan shoved his wife Mariana to defend his manipulative mother, he thought he had the upper hand. He didn't know Mariana held the keys to his entire family empire.
The Price of Betrayal
The next morning, the grand double doors of the mansion swung open. Ryan and Eleanor, disheveled and sleepless, rushed to the lobby, expecting a mistake to be corrected. Instead, they were met by Mariana, flanked by her lead attorney and three burly security guards. She was no longer wearing the emerald gown; she wore a sharp, tailored cream suit, looking every bit the powerful CEO she actually was. The scratch on her cheek was covered, but her resolve was fully visible.
"What is the meaning of this, Mariana?" Ryan demanded, though his voice lacked its previous fire. "You can't just lock us out of our own home!"
Mariana's lawyer stepped forward, handing Ryan a stack of legal documents. "Actually, Mr. Sterling, this is no longer your home. The deed is held by the trust, and your residency has been terminated effective immediately due to breach of the marital covenant. You have thirty minutes to pack one suitcase each."
Eleanor gasped, her face turning pale. "You can't do this to us! Ryan is your husband!" she shrieked, her smugness completely evaporated. But Mariana didn't even look at her. She kept her eyes locked on Ryan, who was now trembling as the gravity of his actions set in. He realized that his mother’s toxic whispers had cost him everything.
"Mariana, please," Ryan begged, taking a step forward before a security guard blocked him. "I was angry. I didn't mean to hurt you. We can talk about this!"
"I told you to remember every word you said," Mariana replied, her voice echoing in the vast marble lobby. "You chose your mother's cruelty over my love. Now, you can share her poverty."
Thirty minutes later, Ryan and Eleanor stood on the driveway, clutching two small suitcases as the gates of the Sterling estate locked behind them forever. Mariana watched from the window, feeling a profound sense of peace. She had learned that true strength isn't about enduring pain, but having the courage to walk away and protect your own worth, no matter how high the price.
