When My Husband Shoved Me for His Cruel Mother, I Froze Their Entire Fortune
Previously: After her husband publicly humiliated and assaulted her to protect his manipulative mother, Mariana decided she was done playing nice. She made one phone call that would ruin their lives forever.
A Cold Homecoming
Desperate and humiliated, Ryan and his mother rushed back to the grand mansion, only to find the iron gates locked. Standing outside were two moving trucks and a team of professional movers packing up Mariana's personal belongings. When Ryan tried to punch in his security code, the keypad flashed red. The locks had been changed.
The side gate opened, and Mariana stepped out, flanked by two imposing security guards and her lead attorney. She had traded her burgundy gown for a sharp, tailored cream suit. The red scratch on her cheek was still visible, a stark physical testament to Ryan's betrayal.
"Mariana, please!" Ryan begged, his voice cracking as he fell to his knees before the iron gates. "It was a mistake! I was stressed! My mother... she didn't mean to..."
Eleanor stood behind him, her gold lace dress now looking wrinkled and pathetic. For the first time in her life, she had nothing to say. Her smugness had evaporated, replaced by a cold, paralyzing fear of poverty.
Mariana looked down at them, her eyes completely devoid of the warmth she had once offered so freely. She slid a manila envelope through the bars of the gate. It fell onto the pavement right in front of Ryan.
"Those are divorce papers," Mariana said, her voice steady and clear. "And because of the physical assault, which was captured perfectly on the foyer's security cameras, the morality clause of our prenup is fully active. You leave this marriage with exactly what you brought into it: nothing."
Ryan stared at the papers, tears finally streaming down his face. He reached out to touch the gate, but the security guards stepped forward, prompting him to draw his hand back in terror. Mariana turned her back on them, walking toward her waiting car without looking back. She had spent years trying to buy their love and respect, only to realize that some people only understand the language of power. As the luxury sedan drove away, leaving Ryan and Eleanor stranded on the curb with their broken pride, Mariana finally felt free. True power does not lie in wealth or status, but in the courage to walk away from those who seek to diminish your worth.
