Previously: When Chloe walked into her bedroom and found her best friend Ashley under the sheets, her world shattered. But she wasn't just going to cry—she was going to make them pay.

The Trap is Sprung

Before Ashley could even stammer an excuse, the bathroom door swung open. Marcus stepped out, a plush white towel wrapped around his waist. He stopped mid-stride, his eyes darting between his trembling wife and his panicked mistress. But instead of the shame or panic Chloe expected, a slow, malicious smirk spread across her husband’s face. He walked over to the bed, casually wrapping an arm around Ashley’s shoulders.

"Well, Chloe, I guess the cat is out of the bag," Marcus said, his tone dripping with cold arrogance. "Honestly, this saves us a lot of tedious acting."

Chloe stared at him, her chest heaving. "How could you do this?" she whispered, looking between the two people she had trusted most in the world. "In our own home? In my bed?"

Ashley sat up straighter, her initial fear evaporating into a smug, triumphant grin. She leaned against Marcus’s chest, looking at Chloe with sheer disdain. "It’s not your bed anymore, Chloe," Ashley sneered. "In fact, none of this is yours anymore."

Marcus walked over to his dresser and pulled out a thick stack of legal documents, tossing them onto the mattress. Chloe recognized her late father’s company logo on the cover. It was the shipping empire her father had built from scratch, which she had inherited just a year ago.

"You remember signing those papers when you had that severe bout of flu last month?" Marcus asked, his eyes gleaming with malice. "You thought you were signing medical proxies. In reality, you signed over unlimited power of attorney to me. I’ve already transferred the deed of this house and seventy percent of your father’s business shares to a joint LLC owned by Ashley and me. You have twenty-four hours to pack your things and get out."

The betrayal was absolute. They hadn't just broken her heart; they had systematically dismantled her life, using her vulnerability to rob her of her father's legacy. They stood there, victorious, waiting for her to break down and beg.
