I Married a Locked Princess, and Her Secret Ruined Our Kingdom
The Silent Bride
The grand cathedral of St. Jude was bathed in a golden, dusty light that filtered through the towering stained-glass windows. But the holy atmosphere brought no comfort to Prince Adrian. His footsteps echoed hollowly against the cold stone floor as he walked down the endless aisle. At the altar stood King Edward, draped in a sapphire blue gown trimmed with ermine, holding the hand of a figure that looked like a nightmare. It was Princess Genevieve, but her head was entirely encased in a locked wooden barrel, bound with rusted iron straps.
"My daughter is now your wife," the King declared, his voice booming through the empty, cavernous hall. Adrian felt a chill run down his spine. The marriage had been arranged in secret, a forced alliance to secure the borders, but Adrian had never expected this level of cruelty. He reached the altar, his hands shaking as he looked at the bizarre, silent figure of his new bride.
The King nodded toward the heavy brass latch on the front of the barrel. "Open it," Edward whispered, a cold sneer playing on his lips. "See what you have inherited."
"Oh my God," Adrian gasped, stumbling back.
Adrian reached out, his fingers trembling as he unclasped the heavy latch. He swung the small wooden door open, expecting a monstrous deformity. Instead, he stared into the dark interior and gasped in horror. Genevieve’s eyes, wide and filled with tears, stared back at him. Stretched tightly across her mouth was a brutal leather gag, held in place by heavy iron rivets. She wasn't hidden because she was a monster; she was being forcibly silenced. Adrian looked at the King, realization dawning on him that he had just married into a web of dark, royal madness.
