Previously: A entitled director humiliates a grease-stained mechanic in front of his young son. But when the boy dares to speak, the father's palm unlocks a secret that will shake Pendelton Robotics to its core.

The Vault Doors Opened to a Second Secret

Lord Ashworth walked beside Luca as they crossed the lobby toward the massive vault doors. The emerald light from the pillar still bathed the room, casting long shadows across the terrazzo floor. Security officers flanked them, their boots echoing in the sudden silence.

"Chief Founder," Ashworth said, his voice low and measured. "The board has been notified. They're convening an emergency session in the east wing."

Luca nodded, his hand resting on Leo's shoulder. "Good. I want every executive in that room. Including the ones who promoted Lawrence."

Ashworth hesitated. "There's something you should know before we go in. The vault — it's not just a storage room. It's the company's heart. And someone's been tampering with it."

Luca stopped. He turned to face the older man, his eyes narrowing. "What do you mean, tampering?"

"The secondary founder override," Ashworth said. "The one that can dissolve the board and transfer all shares to a single entity. It's been accessed. Three times in the last month."

Leo tugged at his father's sleeve. "Dad, what's a founder override?"

Luca knelt down, his voice softening. "It's a key, son. A key that can unlock big doors. But some keys are dangerous in the wrong hands."

He stood up, his gaze fixed on the vault doors. "Who accessed it?"

Ashworth pulled a tablet from his jacket. "The logs show a regional director's credentials. Lawrence."

Luca's jaw tightened. "He was trying to make a move. Probably planning to sell the company to a competitor."

They reached the vault doors, which slid open with a hydraulic hiss. Inside, the room was a maze of servers and filing cabinets, but at the center stood a single pedestal — a glass case housing a gold key, identical to the one Luca had used to activate the pillar.

"This is the secondary override," Ashworth said. "It's what Lawrence was after. If he had triggered it before you activated the pillar, he could have locked you out permanently."

Luca looked at the key, then at his son. Leo was staring at the glass case, his small hands pressed against it.

"Dad," Leo said quietly, "is that why he was mean to us? Because he wanted your key?"

Luca kneeled again, taking his son's face in his hands. "He was mean because he thought he was better than us. But being a founder isn't about money or power. It's about protecting the people who build your dreams."

He stood up and turned to Ashworth. "I want to trigger the secondary override now. Full board dissolution. And I want Lawrence's accomplices exposed."

Ashworth raised an eyebrow. "That will be a public spectacle, Chief Founder. The press will have a field day."

"Let them," Luca said. "My son watched me get humiliated today. I want him to see what happens when you stand up for what's right."

But as he reached for the glass case, a red light began to blink on the pedestal. A alarm — soft, but insistent — filled the vault.

"What's that?" Leo asked.

Ashworth's face went pale. "It's a tamper alert. Someone's trying to trigger the override remotely."

Luca's eyes hardened. "Lawrence?"

"No," Ashworth said. "The signal is coming from the east wing. From the emergency board session."

Luca grabbed Leo's hand. "We're going in."

They burst through the east wing doors to find the board assembled, their faces a mix of confusion and fear. But at the head of the table, in Luca's own chair, sat a woman he hadn't seen in years — his estranged sister, Victoria.

"Well, well," she said, a cold smile spreading across her face. "If it isn't my dear brother. The mechanic. The founder. The fool who thought he could hide from me."

She held up a remote device. "I've just triggered the secondary override. In ten minutes, every share of Pendelton Robotics will transfer to my name. And there's nothing you can do to stop it."

Luca stepped forward, his voice calm. "Victoria. You don't want to do this."

"Oh, but I do," she said. "You took everything from me when you inherited the company. Now I'm taking it back."

Leo looked up at his father, then at his aunt. "Dad," he whispered. "What do we do?"

Luca's eyes locked onto Victoria's. "We wait," he said. "And we see who really owns this company."

The countdown had begun.
