Previously: When nineteen-year-old Luke disobeyed his ruthless manager to help a bruised stranger collapsing in the rain, he lost his job instantly. But that one act of kindness was about to rewrite his entire future.

A Divine Hand of Justice

The cafe door burst open once again, but this time, Todd didn't look angry. He looked pale, trembling as he rushed out into the rain without an umbrella, practically throwing himself at Arthur’s feet.

"Mr. Vance! Oh my goodness, I had no idea it was you! Please, come inside! We have a private room, hot tea... let me help you!"
Todd stammered, his voice filled with desperate, pathetic groveling.

Arthur Vance turned a cold, piercing gaze onto the manager. The vulnerability he had shown moments ago was completely gone, replaced by the commanding presence of a man who ruled an empire.

"You told this young man that my life was not your problem,"
Arthur said, his voice cutting through the sound of the falling rain like ice.
"And you fired him for showing basic human decency. Well, Todd, your lack of compassion is now your own problem. You are dismissed from this company, effective immediately. Do not step foot in any of my establishments again."

Todd stood frozen, his mouth opening and closing like a fish as security guards gently but firmly guided him away from the premises. He had lost everything in a single, heartless moment.

Arthur then turned back to Luke, his expression softening instantly. He placed a warm, heavy hand on the young waiter's shoulder.

"You risked your livelihood to help a bruised stranger on the street, Luke. That kind of integrity cannot be bought. I understand you have a sister to support?"
Luke nodded, still stunned by the rapid turn of events. Arthur smiled warmly.
"Starting tomorrow, you are the new general manager of this location. Your salary will be tripled, and my foundation will fully cover your college tuition. The world needs more people like you."

Tears of relief mingled with the rain on Luke's face as he thanked the man. He had stepped into the rain with nothing but compassion, and walked away with a completely transformed life. In a world where you can choose to be anything, choosing to be kind will always yield the greatest rewards.

The End
