Previously: When a compassionate young waiter disobeys his ruthless boss to help a bleeding man collapsed in the rain, he loses his job—only to discover the stranger's true identity.

The Power of a Phone Call

Thomas slammed the diner door shut, locking it with a decisive click and turning his back on them. Leo sat on the freezing sidewalk, the rain dripping from his blond hair, but his immediate concern remained the injured man beside him. "Are you going to be alright?" Leo asked, helping the man sit up against the brick wall of the building. The stranger nodded slowly, his eyes reflecting a strange, calm authority that didn't match his battered appearance.

Within less than ten minutes, the quiet street was illuminated by the bright headlights of three identical black SUVs. They pulled up to the curb with synchronized precision, splashing water onto the pavement. Several men in immaculate dark suits stepped out, holding large black umbrellas. Thomas, watching anxiously from behind the diner's glass counter, pressed his face against the window, his expression shifting from arrogance to sheer panic.

One of the suited men rushed over, holding an umbrella over the bruised stranger. "Mr. Sterling! We've been searching everywhere for you," the man said, his voice laced with deep respect. Leo’s jaw dropped. The stranger wasn't a homeless man or a drunk; he was Marcus Sterling, the reclusive billionaire philanthropist who had recently moved to the city. Marcus had been mugged after his luxury vehicle broke down a few blocks away, his security detail temporarily losing track of him in the storm.

Marcus stood up, leaning slightly on Leo for support. He looked down at the young waiter with a warm, genuine smile.

"This young man saved my life tonight when his boss threw him out like garbage,"
Marcus announced to his chief of security. He then turned his gaze toward the diner window, where Thomas was now trembling. Marcus took his phone back.
"Call our legal team. Buy this entire property immediately. I want the deed finalized before sunrise."
He then turned to Leo.
"Get in the car, son. Let's get you dry."
