Previously: Forced into a royal marriage by King Garrick, Prince Thomas is horrified to find his bride's head locked in a wooden barrel—but the truth inside is far more dangerous than he imagined.

The Truth Unleashed

As the captain lunged into the cramped carriage, Thomas did not retreat. Summoning every ounce of his training, he blocked the incoming blade with his heavy silver-plated scabbard. The metal clashed in a shower of brilliant sparks. Clara, showing immense bravery despite her terror, grabbed the heavy wooden carriage door and slammed it against the captain's back, throwing him off balance. Thomas seized the fleeting opportunity, driving his fist into the captain’s jaw. The guard collapsed onto the dirt road, unconscious.

Thomas quickly searched the captain's leather belt and found a heavy, golden key engraved with the royal crest.

"This must be the key to the collar," Thomas said, his hands shaking as he fit it into the brass mechanism around Clara's neck.

With a soft click, the collar fell away. To their shock, as it hit the carriage floor, the ticking did not lead to an explosion. Instead, a tiny clockwork music box inside began to play a soft, mocking lullaby. The King had played a psychological game of terror to keep his own daughter silent.

Armed with the truth and the key, Thomas and Clara did not flee. They turned the carriage back toward the cathedral. Sneaking through the hidden servant tunnels, they descended into the damp, forgotten catacomas. There, chained to a stone pillar but very much alive, was the true Queen Eleanor.

Using the royal key once more, they shattered her heavy chains. Together, the trio marched upward, bursting into the grand cathedral hall where King Garrick was already celebrating his victory. Before the gathered lords and the royal guard, Queen Eleanor stepped into the sun-drenched light.

The guards, recognizing their true sovereign, immediately lowered their weapons and turned them toward the trembling usurper. King Garrick was dragged away in chains, his reign of terror ended forever.

Clara looked at Thomas, her lips bruised but free, and smiled. They had turned a forced marriage of terror into a bond of true courage.

True power does not lie in the silence of others, but in the courage to speak the truth when the world demands your silence.
