My Late Father’s Wild Bull Was Set to Be Destroyed Until I Stepped Into the Arena
Previously: When seventeen-year-old Cody stepped into the dusty arena to face a raging, untamable bull, the crowd screamed in terror—but he held a secret weapon left behind by his late father.
A Greedy Uncle's Threat
The arena fell into a stunned, breathless silence. The spectators watched in absolute disbelief as the ferocious beast bowed its massive head, gently nudging Cody's shoulder. The red bandana, carrying the scent of the late Luke, had worked a miracle. But the peace was shattered when the metal gate swung open with a harsh clang. Uncle Arthur marched into the dust, his face twisted in a mixture of rage and desperation, clutching a high-powered rifle.
Behind him, two hired ranch hands followed, their hands resting on their holstered sidearms. "Get away from that monster, Cody!" Arthur roared, raising the rifle and aiming it directly at Ranger. Cody immediately stood up, stepping between the barrel of the gun and the calm, breathing bull. He spread his arms wide, shielding the animal.
"No, Arthur! Lower the gun!" Cody shouted, his voice echoing across the arena. "He’s not wild! He was just grieving my dad! Look at him!"
Arthur sneered, his eyes cold and calculating. "He’s a public liability, boy! He threw a rider last week, and he’s going to be destroyed. This ranch is mine now, and I decide what happens to the stock. Step aside before you get hurt!" Cody looked at his uncle's desperate face and suddenly realized the depth of the betrayal. It wasn't about safety at all. It was about the land.
Just that morning, Cody had found his father's true will hidden alongside the bandana. The document explicitly stated that the entire ranch would inherit to Cody on his eighteenth birthday—provided that Ranger remained alive and well on the property. If Ranger died or was destroyed, the land would legally default to Arthur. Arthur had deliberately agitated the bull, hoping to have him put down before Cody's birthday next month.
"You don't want him dead because he's dangerous, Arthur," Cody yelled, loud enough for the spectators to hear. "You want him dead so you can steal my father's ranch!"
