Previously: A corrupt lawyer tries to disinherit a billionaire's son with forged DNA results. But the boy's trembling hands reveal a sealed secret that flips everything—and exposes a conspiracy.

The news conference was a circus.

I stood behind the podium, Lucas by my side, his hand in mine. The cameras flashed, and I could see the vultures circling—reporters hungry for a story. But I had the truth, and I was done hiding it.

"Ladies and gentlemen," I began, "I'm here to reveal that my brother-in-law, Preston Thorne, has been embezzling from the family trust for years. He forged a DNA test to disinherit my son, and he murdered my wife to cover it up."

A gasp rippled through the crowd. I held up the USB drive and the letter. "I have evidence. Bank records. Emails. A confession. And the testimony of Dr. Elena Voss, who he coerced into signing the forged report."

I paused, letting the words sink in. "But before I release this to the police, I want to say one thing: My wife was the love of my life. And my son is the only family I have left. No one—no one—is going to take that away from me."

I looked at Lucas, who was crying openly but smiling. "This is for you, buddy."

He hugged me, and the cameras went wild. But as I turned to leave, I saw a familiar face in the crowd—Dr. Voss, pushing through the reporters. She was holding a copy of the forged DNA report, and her eyes were locked on mine.

"He's lying!" she shouted, waving the paper. "That test is real! The boy is not his son!"

The crowd turned. I felt Lucas stiffen beside me. "Daddy?"

"It's okay," I whispered.

I walked toward Dr. Voss, the cameras following my every step. "You signed that report," I said, "but did you sign this?" I held up the court-certified DNA certificate. "This is the real test. The one my wife ordered. It proves Lucas is my son. And it proves you're a liar."

Her face went pale. "That—that's not possible."

"It's not only possible," I said, "it's the truth. And the police are on their way to arrest you for fraud and conspiracy."

I didn't wait for her response. I turned back to Lucas, put my arm around him, and walked away. Behind me, I heard the sound of officers approaching, and Dr. Voss's protests fading into the noise.

Later that night, Lucas and I sat in the library of the mansion, the music box open on the table between us. The lullaby played softly in the background. I looked at the photograph of my wife, smiling on our wedding day.

"She would have loved this," I said.

Lucas nodded. "She's watching, Daddy."

I hugged him, and for the first time in years, I felt whole. The trust was safe. Preston was in jail. Dr. Voss was facing charges. And my son—my true heir—was finally home.

"You know," I said, "your mom left us a second trust. It's meant to fund your education, your future, anything you want."

Lucas looked up at me. "Can we use it to build a hospital? So no other kids have to lose their mommy?"

My heart ached. "We can do anything you want, buddy."

I kissed his forehead, and we sat in silence, listening to the lullaby. The music box had been my wife's gift to him—a key to the truth. And now, it was the key to our future.

The trials lasted months, but in the end, justice prevailed. Preston was convicted of murder and fraud. Dr. Voss got twelve years. And Lucas, at seven years old, became the youngest heir in Thorne family history.

But the real inheritance wasn't money or power. It was the truth—and the courage to face it.

As I tucked Lucas into bed that night, he whispered, "Daddy, do you think Mommy's proud of us?"

"I know she is," I said. "Every single day."

And I meant it.
