Previously: When Richard left his grieving daughter Lily with her aunt Eleanor, he thought she was in safe hands. But a sudden glance at his phone's security feed revealed a terrifying nightmare.

The Threat in the Foyer

The heavy oak front door slammed open with a deafening crash, bouncing violently against the wall. Eleanor’s smug, self-satisfied smile instantly vanished, replaced by absolute terror. She spun around, her face draining of color as Richard stormed into the house, his eyes blazing with a fury she had never seen before. She tried to step in front of Lily, attempting to shield the evidence of her cruelty, but Richard pushed past her without a word.

He fell to his knees on the wet marble, pulling Lily into his chest. The little girl clung to his dark blue blazer, her loud, racking sobs echoing through the high ceilings. "I've got you, sweetheart. Daddy’s here. I’m so sorry," Richard whispered, kissing her hair as his own tears threatened to spill. He stood up, shielding Lily behind his back, and turned a freezing glare onto his sister-in-law.

"Pack your things and get out of my house," Richard said, his voice dangerously low. "If you are not gone in five minutes, I am calling the police."

Eleanor blinked, her initial panic slowly fading. She spat her gum onto the wet floor, her expression hardening into something cold and calculated. She crossed her arms, looking at Richard with a wicked smirk that made his stomach turn.

"You won't call anyone, Richard," Eleanor whispered. "Because if you do, I will destroy you."

She pulled her phone from her pocket and tapped the screen, turning it to face him. On the display was a legal document—a custody petition. Eleanor revealed her sinister plan: she had spent the last two months gathering records of Richard's brief voluntary admission to a grief clinic after his wife's death. She had also manipulated Sarah’s former therapist into signing a statement questioning Richard's mental stability as a single father.

"If you try to kick me out or report me, I will take Lily away from you permanently," Eleanor sneered. "The courts always favor family over an unstable, grieving widower. You’ll lose her forever."
