The audio cut off with another crackle of static, but the silence that followed was deafening. Olivia felt the world spinning around her. She looked from the retro camera in Lily’s small hands to David’s pale, sweat-slicked face. The man she loved, the man she was about to vow her life to, looked like a cornered animal. The warm light of the chapel suddenly felt suffocating, and the white orchids looked like funeral decorations.

"Olivia, sweetheart, you can't believe a stupid tape," David stammered, his voice trembling as he tried to take her hand. "It’s a deepfake. It’s edited! Lily must have found some old audio and twisted it. She’s always hated me!" But his desperate lies fell flat. Olivia stepped back, pulling Lily behind her. "Who were you talking to on that tape, David?" she whispered, her voice shaking but cold as ice. Lily reached up and pressed play again. The tape continued, and this time, Chloe's giggling voice was clearly audible.
