The Maid Was Framed for Theft Until the Owner's Son Spoke Up
Previously: When a young maid is framed for a multi-million dollar estate theft, the owner's son must choose between his family's legacy and the truth.
The Price of Silence
The judge banged his gavel with deafening force, calling for an immediate fifteen-minute recess. Security officers escorted Leo and his father into a private conference room behind the courtroom. The moment the heavy oak door clicked shut, Arthur spun around, his face contorted in rage. He slammed his fist onto the table, the sound echoing like a gunshot.
"Have you lost your mind, Leo?"Arthur hissed, his voice low but dripping with venom.
"You are risking our family's entire legacy. If you speak another word out there, I will make sure you are disowned before the day is over. You will have nothing."
Leo stared back at his father, his chest heaving. For years, he had feared this man, but the sight of Clara weeping in the dock had broken something inside him.
"I don't care about the legacy, Dad,"Leo replied, his voice trembling but defiant.
"You framed her. I was the one who knocked over the lamp in your study. It was an accident. But you turned it into a three-million-dollar insurance scam. You stole your own diamonds!"
Arthur sneered, stepping closer until he was inches from Leo's face.
"And who do you think they will believe? A rebellious teenager or a respected businessman? If you confess, I will make sure Clara's family is evicted from their apartment tonight. I own their building, Leo. One phone call, and they are on the street."
Leo felt a cold dread wash over him. His father had thought of everything. He was trapped. But just as Arthur smirked, believing he had won, the door to the conference room opened. Standing in the doorway was Detective Miller and Evelyn Carter, the lead investigator from the insurance firm. Evelyn held a thick manila envelope, her expression grim.
"I think you should hear what we found, Mr. Vance,"Evelyn said calmly.
โVance," Evelyn said calmly.
