Previously: When Diana and Thomas hired a new maid for their luxury estate, they never expected their young triplet sons to run into her arms, crying and calling her their real mother.

The Secrets in the Shadows

Diana's heart hammered against her ribs as she stepped forward, her voice trembling with a mixture of anger and confusion. "Get away from them!" she demanded, reaching to pull her sons back. But the boys clung to Grace even tighter, shielding her with their small bodies. Diana looked at her husband, expecting him to call security, but Thomas stood paralyzed, his face pale and sweat breaking out on his forehead.

Grace slowly stood up, wiping her tears, though she kept her hands gently resting on the boys' shoulders. She looked directly at Thomas, her eyes filled with a painful mixture of grief and defiance. "Tell her, Thomas," Grace whispered, her voice cracking. "Tell your wife who I am, or I will."

Diana looked between them, a cold dread settling in her stomach. "Thomas, what is she talking about? We adopted the boys through an agency in Chicago. You handled all the paperwork. You told me their birth mother wanted to remain completely anonymous and had moved out of the country!"

Grace let out a bitter, sorrowful laugh.

"Anonymous? I never wanted to give them up. Thomas told me my babies died at birth," Grace revealed, her voice shaking the very walls of the mansion. "I was a surrogate for you, Diana. But Thomas secretly paid off the clinic staff. He told me there were complications and that none of my triplets survived. I spent four years grieving my children, believing they were gone, until I saw a photograph of your family in a local charity magazine. I recognized their faces instantly—and the matching crescent birthmarks on their wrists."

Diana spun around to face her husband, her world spinning. Thomas took a step back, unable to meet her gaze. The silence in the opulent lobby was deafening as the dark truth of their perfect family began to unravel.
