Previously: Cedric forced my eight-months-pregnant wife to clean up his mess. My son begged him to stop. Then I walked in with the deed that ended his career — and my wife learned who she really was.
Seven Years of Secrets Unraveled in a Single Sentence
Dominic set Noah down gently, then took both of Elena's hands in his. The lounge's other guests had been discreetly escorted out, leaving only the four of them — plus the COO, who stood at a respectful distance.
"I bought this hotel three years ago," Dominic said quietly. "I put it in your name, without telling you, because I wanted you to have something that was truly yours — in case anything ever happened to me."

Elena's eyes filled with tears. "But you never told me. You let me work here as a server, Dominic. I've been on my feet for eight months, taking orders from men like Cedric, and you never said a word."
"I didn't want to change how people treated you," Dominic admitted. "I wanted you to earn their respect on your own merit. But tonight —" He stopped, his jaw tight. "Tonight I realized I was wrong. You shouldn't have to earn basic decency."
Noah tugged at Dominic's sleeve. "Daddy, is Mommy a queen now?"
Dominic laughed, but it was hollow. "Yes, buddy. She always was."
Elena pulled the jacket tighter around her shoulders. "What happens now?"
"Cedric is banned from every property we own," Dominic said. "I'll make sure he never works in this city again. But that's just the beginning."
He looked at the COO, who stepped forward with another document. "Elena, I need you to sign this."
Elena took the paper, her eyes scanning the legal jargon. "What is it?"
"A transfer of ownership for the entire Vance hotel chain," Dominic said. "All twelve properties. I'm making you the sole owner — not just this one, but everything."
Elena's hands trembled. "Dominic, I can't — I don't know how to run a hotel chain."
"You don't have to," he said. "You just have to be the one in charge. I'll handle the day-to-day, but the decisions — the real decisions — they'll be yours."
She stared at the paper, her mind racing. "Why now? Why tonight?"
Dominic's expression darkened. "Because I just realized how close I came to losing you both. If I hadn't walked in when I did..." He trailed off, unable to finish the thought.
Noah wrapped his small arms around Elena's legs. "Mommy, are you okay?"
"I'm okay, baby," Elena said, her voice cracking. "I just need a minute to breathe."
But as she looked at the paper, something else caught her eye. A small line at the bottom, in fine print, that made her blood run cold.
"Dominic," she said slowly. "This says I also inherit all of your debts."
Dominic's face went pale. "What?"
"Right here," Elena pointed. "'The sole owner assumes all outstanding liabilities, including but not limited to...' — Dominic, what is this?"
Dominic grabbed the paper, his eyes scanning frantically. "That's not — I never saw that clause."
The COO stepped forward, his voice suddenly different. "Actually, Mr. Vance, I added that clause."
Dominic turned, his fury barely contained. "Excuse me?"
"You've been expanding too fast," the COO said, a cold smile spreading across his face. "You're three hundred million in debt, Dominic. I figured it was time someone took the fall."
Elena gasped. "Three hundred million?"
"He didn't tell you," the COO continued. "He's been hiding it for years. Tonight, when you walked in and made that scene, I realized I had a perfect opportunity."
Dominic lunged forward, but security held him back.
"You're fired!" Dominic shouted. "You're done!"
"I'm not done," the COO said. "Because I've already filed the paperwork. Elena is now the legal owner of everything — including the debt. And I have a buyer waiting who's very interested in the whole package."
Elena clutched Noah to her chest, her eyes wide. "You set me up."
"I set him up," the COO corrected, nodding at Dominic. "You just got caught in the crossfire."
Dominic's fists clenched. "You'll never get away with this."
"I already have," the COO said. "The sale goes through at midnight. And by the time anyone figures it out, you'll be bankrupt and she'll be holding the bag."
He turned and walked toward the door, pausing at the threshold. "Oh, and Elena?" He smiled. "Congratulations on your new hotel chain. Enjoy the bankruptcy."
