Matteo Found His Daughter's Mother Bruised and Hidden in His Own Kitchen
A Shocking Discovery in the Kitchen
The VIP dining room of L’Aura was filled with laughter, clinking champagne glasses, and the soft hum of jazz. Matteo stood in his tailored navy suit, the picture of success, yet his heart wasn't in the celebration. His elegant fiancée, Victoria, had slipped away minutes earlier, claiming she needed to check on the catering details. Feeling a strange sense of unease, Matteo decided to follow her. He walked past the heavy double doors, leaving the warmth of the banquet hall behind, and stepped into the sterile, cold world of the restaurant's main kitchen.
The clatter of stainless steel echoed in the empty room. There, huddled over a deep industrial sink, was a woman. Her dirty-blonde hair was pulled back in a hurried knot, her shoulders shaking with silent, heavy sobs. She wore a dark grey apron, stained with grease and water. When Matteo’s footsteps echoed on the tile, she gasped and turned around. It was Elena.
Matteo froze, his breath catching in his throat. Elena was the woman he had loved years ago, the woman who had mysteriously vanished shortly after giving birth to their daughter, Lily. "Elena? What are you doing here?" Matteo demanded, his voice cracking with a mixture of shock and sudden, rising panic.
Before Elena could answer, the door swung open again. Victoria walked in, her silver sequined gown shimmering under the harsh fluorescent lights. She sighed dramatically, waving a manicured hand.
"Come on, you're overreacting," Victoria said with a dismissive chuckle. "She's just trying to help. Someone has to do the dirty work, Matteo."
Matteo ignored his fiancée. He stepped closer to Elena, his eyes widening as he noticed the dark, purple bruise blooming across her cheek. Gently, his hands trembling, he cradled her face. "Look at me," he whispered, his heart breaking. "Do you really want to stay down here?"
Tears streamed down Elena’s bruised cheek as she looked into his eyes.
"No," she wept. "She said I belong in this kitchen because I'm the mother of your daughter. She said if I ever tried to see Lily, she would make sure I lost everything."
Matteo turned slowly toward Victoria, his eyes burning with absolute fury.
