Previously: A young waitress's life takes a terrifying turn when a mob lieutenant assaults her. But what happens when the Don witnesses the brutality? The consequences are deadly.

The Don's Judgment

In the shadowy corner booth, Don Axel Iron rose to his full, imposing height. The flickering diner lights seemed to dim as his dark silhouette blotted them out. His slate-gray eyes, usually radiating lethal calm, now locked onto Brock with an intensity that promised utter annihilation. The arrogant smirk that had been plastered on Brock’s face moments before froze, then melted away as a paralyzing horror dawned in his eyes. All color drained from his face. Axel’s voice, when it came, was a low, gravelly venom, each word precisely aimed like a bullet. “You have five seconds to pray, Brock.”

“You have five seconds to pray, Brock.”

Brock remained utterly silent, his pupils dilating, his chest heaving with ragged breaths. He couldn't form words, couldn't even begin to comprehend the swiftness of his downfall. Axel Iron didn't wait for the five seconds to expire. He surged forward, an explosive blur of controlled fury. Covering the distance in a single, terrifying stride, he thrust his gloved hand forward like an iron clamp, seizing Brock by the throat before the younger man could even think of reaching for the concealed firearm at his side. With a strength that defied physics, Axel lifted Brock completely off his boots, slamming his spine down onto the solid diner table with a thunderous, bone-jarring crash. The table edge snapped, glass condiment shakers shattered, and sugar and ketchup exploded into the air, painting the scene in a chaotic, sticky mess.

“You touched what belongs under my protection, Brock.”

Brock gasped, his eyes bulging, veins throbbing on his purpling forehead as he clawed uselessly at the suffocating grip. Axel’s voice was a chilling baritone, devoid of emotion. “You touched what belongs under my protection, Brock.” Sarah, pressed against the counter, could only watch, her own pain momentarily forgotten, replaced by a stunned awe. She saw the raw terror in Brock's eyes, the absolute power radiating from Axel. This wasn't just anger; it was a terrifyingly deliberate display of absolute authority. The storm outside raged on, but inside the Starlight Diner, a different, far more deadly storm had just broken, and Sarah knew, with chilling certainty, that Brock’s fate was sealed.
