Previously: When Amber stepped onto the elite shooting range, the instructors laughed at her cheap hoodie. They had no idea who she really was—or the dangerous secret she carried.

The Final Shot

Amber knew she had only seconds to act. She didn't look at the guard pointing a gun at Jeff, nor did she look at Vance. Her eyes remained locked on the two men approaching her car. With a fluid, explosive motion that no one anticipated, Amber grabbed a loaded magazine from her hidden waistband—a precaution she always took—and slammed it into the bolt-action rifle.

Before Vance's guard could react, Amber swept the rifle barrel upward, striking the guard's wrist and sending his gun flying. In the same motion, she fired from the hip. The bullet struck the dirt right at the feet of the two men approaching her sedan, stopping them dead in their tracks.

Jeff, freed from his captor, lunged forward and tackled the disarmed guard. The remaining bodyguards drew their weapons, but Amber was already behind the wooden shooting bench, using it as cover. She fired two more precise shots, disabling the weapons in the hands of the remaining guards without taking a single life.

Vance fell to his knees, staring in terror at the barrel of Amber’s rifle pointed directly between his eyes.

"It's over, Vance," Amber said, her voice cold as ice. "The drive is already with the federal authorities. They’ve been waiting for me to signal them. And you just gave them all the reason they need."

Sirens began to wail in the distance, echoing across the desert canyons. Jeff had secretly triggered the silent alarm the moment Vance threatened the child. Within minutes, federal agents swarmed the range, arresting Vance and his men.

Jeff walked over to Amber, his expression filled with profound respect.

"I think we need a new head of security," he said softly. "If you're still looking for a job."

Amber looked over at her daughter, who was waving safely from the car. For the first time in five years, the heavy weight of fear lifted from Amber's shoulders. She had not only protected her family, but she had finally brought her husband's killers to justice.

Sometimes, the quietest people carry the heaviest storms, but when the dust settles, their true strength is undeniable.
