The morning rush at the Oakridge Diner was winding down, leaving behind the comforting hum of the coffee maker and the soft clinking of silverware. Sarah, a warm-hearted waitress with wavy blonde hair, smoothed her dark grey apron over her yellow shirt. She loved her job, but today, her attention was entirely captured by a young brunette girl sitting in a wheelchair at a corner booth.

Her name was Lily. For months, Lily had come in with her father, Mark, always silent, locked behind a wall of trauma. But today, Lily was struggling to reach a fallen napkin. Without hesitation, Sarah knelt beside the wheelchair, offering a gentle smile.

"Let me help you, okay?" Sarah whispered, her voice like a warm blanket.

Lily’s eyes widened slightly. She looked down, her fingers trembling. Then, in a tiny, fragile voice that hadn't been heard in three years, she replied, "I, I don't want to bother you."
