My Billionaire Ex-Husband Blamed Me for Our Childless Marriage — Then He Saw My Twins' Eyes
Previously: Luca Moretti divorced me, convinced I was barren. Years later, he saw my twins in a restaurant — and froze. They had his eyes. Now he wants the truth.
The Man Who Never Loses
The next morning, I was closing my bakery when I saw the black sedan pull up outside. My heart sank as Luca stepped out, dressed in a tailored suit that fit him like a second skin, his face unreadable.
He knocked on the glass, and I considered pretending I wasn't there. But I knew Luca. He'd wait all day if he had to.

I opened the door, blocking the entrance. “What do you want?”
“To talk.” His voice was quiet, controlled. “Without the drama.”
“There's nothing to talk about.”
“There's everything to talk about.” He stepped closer, his eyes searching mine. “I have two children, Nia. Two children I never knew about. How could you keep that from me?”
I laughed, a bitter sound. “How could I keep that from you? Luca, you divorced me. You told me you didn't love me anymore. You made me believe I was the reason we couldn't have children.”
His jaw tightened. “That was a mistake. I know that now.”
“A mistake?” I shook my head. “You didn't just make a mistake. You chose to believe a lie about me. You chose to throw me away without even asking me for the truth.”
“What truth?” he demanded. “What was the truth, Nia?”
I took a deep breath. I had imagined this conversation a thousand times, but now that it was here, I felt the words sticking in my throat.
“I found out I was pregnant the week after you signed the divorce papers.”
Luca's face went pale. “What?”
“I went to the doctor because I was feeling sick. They ran tests. They told me I was pregnant—with twins.” I paused, letting the words sink in. “I tried to call you. I called your office, your personal line. But you had blocked me. You had moved on.”
“I didn't—” He stopped, running a hand through his hair. “I didn't know. I swear I didn't know.”
“Of course you didn't know. Because you never gave me the chance to tell you.” My voice broke. “You blamed me. You made me feel like I was less than nothing. And then you left me to face it alone.”
Luca's eyes were glassy. “I'm sorry, Nia. I'm so sorry.”
“Sorry doesn't fix it, Luca. Sorry doesn't give me back the years I spent raising them alone.”
“But I want to be there now,” he said. “I want to be their father.”
“You can't just decide that now. You don't get to walk in and play dad after all these years.”
“They're my children,” he said, his voice hardening. “I have a right to know them.”
“You have no right,” I said, stepping closer. “You gave up that right when you signed those papers.”
Luca's phone buzzed. He ignored it. “I'm not going to let this go, Nia. I'll do whatever it takes.”
“Like what? Sue me? Take me to court?” I shook my head. “You think you can buy your way into their lives like you buy everything else?”
“I'll do what I have to do,” he said, his voice cold. “They're my blood.”
Before I could respond, a car pulled up behind his. A woman stepped out—Evelyn, her face hard as stone.
“Luca,” she called, her voice sharp. “We need to talk.”
Luca turned, his expression shuttered. “Not now, Evelyn.”
“Yes, now.” She walked up to him, ignoring me completely. “I heard about the twins. The whole city is talking.”
“It's not what you think,” he said.
“Oh, I think it's exactly what I think.” She crossed her arms. “You have children with your ex-wife. Children you never told me about.”
“I didn't know about them,” he said. “I just found out.”
“But you're already planning to fight for them,” she said. “I can see it in your eyes.”
Luca didn't deny it. He just stood there, caught between two women who both knew exactly what he was capable of.
I stepped back, pulling the door closed. “I'm done with this conversation. You need to leave.”
“Nia—”
“Leave, Luca. Before I call the police.”
He stared at me for a long moment, then turned and walked to his car. Evelyn followed, but not before shooting me a look that was equal parts hatred and envy.
I locked the door and leaned against it, my heart racing. I had known Luca would fight. But I hadn't expected Evelyn to be in the middle of it.
And I hadn't expected the text message that came an hour later.
I have a right to know my children. My lawyers will be in touch.
I stared at the screen, my hands shaking. Luca Moretti was declaring war.
And I had no idea how to win.
