Previously: For years, Charles believed his blindness was permanent, relying entirely on his loving wife Victoria. But a shocking revelation from a neighbor's little girl turns his entire world upside down.

The Unraveling Truth

Charles stood up from the bench, his hands trembling as he reached out into the empty air. "Victoria?" he called out, his voice sharp and demanding. "Victoria, answer me!"

Victoria took a step back, her heels digging into the soft gravel.

"She's just a child, Charles! She's playing a cruel game. You know how children have wild imaginations!"
her voice was high-pitched, laced with a panic she couldn't hide.

But the seeds of doubt had already taken root. Charles remembered the sudden onset of his blindness, the doctors' inability to find a physical cause, and how Victoria had insisted on preparing every single meal herself. He demanded to be taken to the hospital immediately for a full toxicology screening. Terrified of what the doctors would find, Victoria tried to stall, but Charles bypassed her entirely. He used his phone's voice assistant to call his brother, Arthur, who had always been suspicious of Victoria's sudden devotion.

When Arthur arrived, he didn't waste time. He helped Charles into his car, casting a look of pure disgust at Victoria.

"If you did this to him, Victoria, I will make sure you spend the rest of your life behind bars,"
Arthur warned before slamming the car door.

Left alone in the silent, echoing mansion, Victoria panicked. She rushed to the kitchen pantry, pulling aside the spice rack to reveal a hidden compartment. This was where she kept the small glass vials of the specialized chemical compound—a substance that temporarily paralyzed the optic nerve without leaving obvious traces. She needed to destroy them before the police arrived.

But when she reached into the dark recess, her fingers met empty air. The vials were gone.

Before she could process this new terror, her phone rang. An unknown number flashed on the screen. She answered with a shaking hand, only to hear a cold, unfamiliar voice on the other end.

"Looking for these, Victoria? I have the vials, and I have the security footage. If you don't want the police to get them, you will do exactly as I say."
