Previously: When Stella was humiliated and thrown out of the upscale steakhouse by her arrogant boss, she thought she had lost everything—until her bizarre red tears caught a powerful investor's eye.

Before Vivian could call her private security, the heavy glass front doors of the restaurant swung open. Two uniformed police officers walked in, followed closely by a pair of city health inspectors. Vivian stared in horror as they marched straight toward the VIP table.

The Reversal of Fortune

Martin stepped forward, holding up the stained handkerchief.

"Officers, I am Martin Vance. I called your precinct ten minutes ago. I have just witnessed a physical assault and the illegal use of banned toxic chemicals in a commercial kitchen. The suspect is Vivian Vance-Caldwell, and the evidence is splattered all over this victim."

Vivian stumbled backward, looking at James for help, but James merely put his hands in his pockets and stepped away from her, completely abandoning her just as he had once abandoned Stella. "I had nothing to do with this," James stammered to the officers. "I didn't know she was using illegal dyes."

As the officers escorted a screaming Vivian out of the dining room in handcuffs, Martin turned his attention back to Stella. He helped her sit down and offered her a glass of cool water to flush her eyes.

"Don't worry, Stella," Martin said gently. "The paramedics are outside. Your eyes will make a full recovery. And as for this restaurant... Vivian's arrest and the health violations mean her lease is void. I actually own this entire building, and I only came tonight to see if the rumors of your culinary genius were true."

Stella looked up through her blurry, healing vision, tears of relief finally washing away the red stains. Martin smiled warmly at her.

"Tomorrow, we reopen this place," Martin declared. "But the sign outside won't say 'The Gilded Carve' anymore. It will bear your name, Stella. You are the true heart of this kitchen."

Months later, Stella's new restaurant was the most successful spot in the city, proving that true talent and integrity will always outshine the cheap shortcuts of greed.
