Previously: For years, Lily believed she would never walk again after a tragic accident. But when her brother Toby tries an unconventional therapy, a shocking truth about her stepfather David comes to light.

The Dark Truth Exposed

David slid to a halt on the grass, his eyes darting wildly between the water basin and Lily’s flushed face. His breathing was ragged, his hands trembling as he pointed an accusing finger at Toby. He demanded that Toby step away from his sister immediately, claiming that unauthorized therapy could cause permanent damage to her fragile spine.

"You have no idea what you're doing, Toby!" David bellowed, his voice laced with panic. "Get away from her! I am her legal guardian, and I will not let you ruin her recovery!"

But Toby stood his ground, stepping in front of Lily’s wheelchair like a shield. He reached into his pocket and pulled out his phone, playing an audio file that shattered Lily's world. It was a recording of David speaking to her primary physician, explicitly discussing the dosage of her daily medication. "Make sure she stays weak," David’s recorded voice whispered. "If she walks before her eighteenth birthday, the trust fund automatically transfers to her control. We can't let that happen."

Lily stared at her stepfather, her heart breaking into a million pieces. The man who had promised to protect her after her mother’s death had been systematically poisoning her to keep her crippled and dependent. David’s face turned pale as the recording played. Realizing he had been exposed, his desperate panic transformed into cold malice. He lunged forward, shoving Toby violently onto the grass, and grabbed the handles of Lily’s wheelchair.

"You're coming inside, Lily," David hissed, his grip tightening on the chair. "You don't know what's best for you!"

Toby struggled to his feet, but David was already spinning the wheelchair around, dragging Lily toward the dark mansion. Desperate and terrified, Lily realized she couldn't rely on anyone else. She looked down at her legs, feeling the warm tingling sensation still pulsing through her veins. With a surge of adrenaline, she gripped the armrests of her chair, refusing to let him take her back into the dark.
