Previously: When Specialist Emily Vance was dragged into the sun-baked courtyard to have her head forcibly shaved by a corrupt commander, she warned them. But they didn't know her true identity.

The General's Arrival

Every head in the courtyard turned toward the main gates. A convoy of armored black SUVs had pulled to a halt, kicking up a thick cloud of dust. From the lead vehicle stepped General Joseph Vance, the legendary four-star general and member of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. He was flanked by a dozen heavily armed military police officers. His presence alone commanded absolute silence, but it was the look of pure, unadulterated fury on his face that made everyone hold their breath.

Thomas’s smug expression vanished in an instant. His face drained of color, turning a sickly shade of gray. He scrambled down from the platform, his legs shaking as he rushed to salute the arriving commander.

"General Vance, sir! This is an unexpected honor!" Thomas stammered, his voice cracking. "We were just... dealing with a highly insubordinate soldier. Standard disciplinary action, sir."

General Vance didn’t return the salute. He marched right past Thomas, his heavy combat boots crunching on the gravel, his eyes locked entirely on Emily. He stopped right in front of her, taking in her bruised face and the plastic ties binding her wrists. He drew a combat knife from his belt and, with one swift motion, sliced the bounds free.

"Is this how you treat my soldiers, Thomas?" the General asked, his voice dangerously low.

Thomas swallowed hard, trying to regain his composure. "Sir, she is a thief. Her name is Emily Miller, a low-ranking specialist who was caught stealing classified supply logs. She is a nobody."

The General slowly turned to face Thomas, a cold, terrifying smile appearing on his lips.

"Her name is not Emily Miller," General Vance said, his voice echoing across the silent courtyard. "She enlisted under her mother's maiden name to prove she could make it on her own. Her name is Emily Vance. She is my daughter."

A collective gasp rippled through the gathered soldiers. Thomas stumbled backward, his eyes wide with sheer terror as the reality of his mistake crashed down on him.
