Previously: When Specialist Emily Vance was dragged into the sun-baked courtyard to have her head forcibly shaved by a corrupt commander, she warned them. But they didn't know her true identity.

Justice Served

The silence in the courtyard was absolute. Thomas looked around frantically, realizing that his grip on the base had completely evaporated. The men who had blindly followed his orders now stood at attention, refusing to even look in his direction. He was completely alone.

"And she isn't just my daughter, Thomas," General Vance continued, stepping closer. "She is an active investigator for the Inspector General’s office. She was sent here specifically to look into the massive supply discrepancies you thought you were hiding."

Emily stood tall, rubbing her wrists where the plastic ties had chafed her skin. She reached into her pocket and pulled out a small, encrypted flash drive—the evidence of Thomas’s black-market operations that she had managed to hide before being captured. She handed it directly to her father.

"Everything is on here, Dad," Emily said, her voice strong and clear. "The offshore accounts, the stolen shipments, and the names of everyone who helped him."

Thomas realized there was no escape. He fell to his knees in the hot dirt, sobbing and begging for mercy. But there was no mercy to be found. The military police stepped forward, slamming handcuffs onto Thomas’s wrists and dragging him away to face a court-martial that would ensure he spent the rest of his life behind bars.

General Vance placed a proud hand on Emily’s shoulder. "You did an incredible job, Specialist. Your mother and I couldn't be proudest. But next time, let us know before you go undercover in a hornet's nest."

Emily smiled, looking out at the base that was finally free from a tyrant's grasp. She had proven that she didn't need her father's name to stand up for what was right—only her own courage. True strength isn't about the rank on your shoulder, but the integrity in your heart, and no amount of intimidation can ever shave away a person's dignity.
