Previously: When Beatrice went to the hospital to congratulate her son on his newborn baby, she never expected him to trip her. But her fall set off a chain of events they would regret.

As Thomas turned his back on his mother, leaving her to gather the scattered apples on her hands and knees, a stern voice echoed down the hallway.

The Uninvited Witness

"Is this how you treat your mother, Thomas?"

Thomas froze. Standing at the end of the hall was Dr. Raymond Vance, the chief administrator and majority shareholder of the hospital network. Alongside him were two security guards. Thomas's face drained of color. He had spent months trying to secure a lucrative partnership with Dr. Vance’s medical group, a deal that would secure his financial future.

"Dr. Vance!" Thomas stammered, quickly trying to mask his hostility. "This... this woman was trespassing. She’s unstable. I was simply removing her."

Inside the room, Emily’s mock applause died instantly. She watched in horror as Dr. Vance bypassed Thomas entirely and knelt on the cold floor. With utmost gentleness, the prestigious doctor helped Beatrice to her feet, picking up the bruised apples and placing them back into her torn bag.

"Are you alright, Mrs. Vance?" Dr. Vance asked, his voice filled with deep respect.

Thomas gasped. "Vance? Her name is Beatrice Miller. She’s a nobody!"

Beatrice stood tall, dusting off her beige trench coat. The frail, helpless look vanished, replaced by a quiet dignity that commanded the room. "My maiden name was Miller, Thomas," she said softly. "But after your father passed, I reverted to my married name. I kept my private life separate from your greedy hands for this exact reason."

Dr. Raymond Vance was Beatrice’s brother-in-law. The very hospital Thomas was standing in, the VIP suite his wife was enjoying, and the entire medical empire Thomas desperately wanted to partner with belonged to the woman he had just tripped.

Emily hurried out of the room, holding the baby, her face pale. "Thomas, what is going on? Who is this woman?"

"She is the sole trustee of your husband's inheritance," Dr. Vance declared, his eyes flashing with anger. "And the woman who just decided your financial fate."
