Previously: When Lorna refused to feed her young stepson, she had no idea her husband was listening. His sudden retaliation exposed a web of lies that ruined her entire life.

The Envelope of Truth

For a long, agonizing moment, the only sound in the kitchen was the hum of the refrigerator. Lorna’s face drained of color, turning as white as her porcelain plates. She tried to force a nervous laugh, adjusting her pink apron with trembling hands as she looked at David, hoping he was playing some sort of sick joke.

"David, honey, what are you talking about? That’s not funny. You’re scaring the kids," she stammered, gesturing vaguely toward the hallway where her own children were playing.

David didn't blink. He walked over to the island, pulled Leo gently behind him, and threw the heavy manila envelope onto the counter. It slid across the marble, stopping right in front of Lorna. "Open it," he commanded, his voice deadly quiet, vibrating with a mixture of heartbreak and absolute fury.

With shaking fingers, Lorna pulled out the documents inside. They were official DNA paternity test results for her twelve-year-old twins, Mason and Lily. As her eyes scanned the bold text at the bottom of the pages—Probability of Paternity: 0%—she sank against the counter, her knees buckling under the weight of her exposed secrets.

"I noticed how you isolated Leo," David said, his voice thick with emotion. "I saw how you treated my son like an outsider while demanding I pay for your children's private schools, sports, and luxury camps. It made me look closer at our lives. And then, I found the messages between you and your ex-husband."

Lorna began to weep, stepping toward him in a desperate bid for forgiveness. "David, please! It was a mistake, I love you! We are a family!" she sobbed, trying to grab his arm. But David stepped back, his eyes cold and filled with utter disgust for the woman he had trusted for five years. He could not believe the depth of her deception.

"We are not a family," David replied. "You used me as a paycheck while treating my son like garbage. Today, that ends."
