Thomas held up the bottle, his hands shaking with a dangerous mixture of grief and rage.

"You did this to her!"

he roared, tears streaming down his face.

"Our daughter is blind because of you! Why, Eleanor? Why would you poison our little girl?"

Eleanor collapsed to her knees, sobbing hysterically. The truth poured out of her in a pathetic, desperate torrent. She confessed that she had sensed Thomas pulling away from their marriage months ago. She was terrified he would divorce her and leave.

"I knew you would never leave us if Chloe needed you,"

she wept, hiding her face in her hands.

"I just wanted to keep our family together. I didn't want to hurt her forever, I just needed you to stay!"

Thomas looked at her with utter disgust. Without a word, he picked up his phone and dialed 911, reporting his wife for child endangerment and poisoning. As Eleanor screamed and begged for forgiveness, Thomas walked past her, heading straight to Chloe's playroom.

He knelt in front of his daughter. With trembling fingers, he gently removed her dark sunglasses. Chloe looked at him, her beautiful green eyes clear and focused. Tears welled in her eyes, and she threw her arms around his neck.

"I'm sorry, Daddy,"

Chloe sobbed into his shoulder.

"I found out Mommy was putting medicine in my soup. I started spitting it out in the potted plant weeks ago. But I had to keep pretending to be blind. I was so scared she would do something worse to you or me if she knew I could see."

Thomas held his daughter tight, crying tears of immense relief and profound sorrow. The police arrived minutes later, taking Eleanor away in handcuffs.
