My Ex-Husband Threw Me Out Pregnant, But He Forgot Who My Father Was
The Fall of a Smug Empire
The autumn air bit sharply through Olivia’s cream knit sweater, but the chill in her bones had nothing to do with the weather. Standing on the grand cobblestone driveway of the luxury estate she had called home for five years, she looked down at her life scattered across the cold stone. Silk dresses, family photographs, and baby clothes—meant for the child growing inside her—lay trampled in the dirt.
Above her, standing on the grand portico, was Richard. Her ex-husband looked immaculate in his light grey button-down shirt, his face twisted into a mask of smug satisfaction. Beside him stood Sarah, draped in a vibrant emerald green dress, her hand resting possessively on Richard’s arm.
"You don't belong here anymore, Olivia,"
Richard called out mockingly, his voice echoing across the courtyard. With a cruel smirk, he kicked her final suitcase down the stone steps. It burst open, spilling its contents at her feet. The two security guards standing near the iron gates remained motionless, their faces blank under Richard's payroll.
Olivia’s hand instinctively went to her pregnant belly. At thirty-two, she had never felt more vulnerable, yet a spark of fierce determination ignited within her. Wiping a tear from her cheek, she knelt down and grabbed her phone from the wreckage of her suitcase. Her fingers trembled as she dialed a number she knew by heart.
"Dad,"
she whispered into the receiver, her voice shaking but resolute.
"Come get me. And Dad... bring the legal."
On the steps, Richard and Sarah shared a mocking laugh, whispering to each other as if her plea was nothing more than a pathetic tantrum. But their amusement was short-lived. A sudden, deafening roar of engines shattered the quiet of the estate. Two massive black SUVs tore through the open gates, their tires screeching against the cobblestones as they swung into the courtyard, blocking Richard’s sports car. The headlights cut through the golden hour sun, blinding the smug couple on the steps.
