The silence in the ballroom was absolute. Chloe walked past the stunned guests, her heels clicking rhythmically against the polished marble. She ignored Alex's outstretched hand and walked straight toward the VIP stage where Richard Vance, Alex’s father and the patriarch of the family, was raising a toast with his business partners.

As Chloe approached, Richard's glass slipped from his fingers, shattering on the floor. His face drained of color, turning a ghostly pale.

"Chloe? Chloe Pendelton?" Richard gasped, his voice trembling.

The name sent a murmur through the older members of the crowd. Three years ago, the Pendelton family had owned the very hotel they were standing in, before a hostile and suspicious takeover by the Vance family drove Chloe's father into bankruptcy and an early grave. Chloe had disappeared, and everyone assumed she had left the city in ruin.

Sarah rushed to Alex's side, clutching his arm tightly. "Alex, what is going on? Who is this woman, and why is she wearing that dress?" she demanded, her voice rising in panic. But Alex could only stare, realization slowly dawning on him. The humble waitress he had tried to humiliate was the daughter of the man his family had destroyed.

Chloe took the microphone from the podium, her voice steady and powerful. "Good evening, everyone," she announced. "Tonight, you are celebrating the success of the Vance Empire. But I think it is time we discuss how that empire was built."

Richard tried to step forward, sweating profusely.

"Chloe, please, let's talk about this in my office. We can settle this privately," he pleaded, his arrogant demeanor completely shattered.

Chloe smiled coldly, pulling a set of sealed documents from her red clutch bag. "There is nothing to discuss in private, Richard. The truth belongs to everyone."
