My Groom Humiliated Me at Our Wedding, So I Had My Lawyer Walk In
A Fall from Grace
The grand banquet hall of the Plaza Hotel was a vision of opulence. Crystal chandeliers cast a warm, golden glow over hundreds of wealthy guests, their laughter mingling with the soft clink of champagne flutes. At the center of it all sat Stephanie, a young bride with dark curly hair, wearing a gown of delicate lace and silk. But beneath her radiant exterior, her heart was racing. She was married, but the victory felt hollow.
As the music swelled, Stephanie stood up to address the crowd. Her mind, foggy from a sleepless night of shocking discoveries, betrayed her. Her heel caught on the heavy satin hem of her gown, and before she could grab the table, she fell hard onto the polished wooden floor. The music seemed to stop instantly. A heavy, suffocating silence fell over the room.

Stephanie looked up, expecting her new husband, Brandon, to rush to her side. Instead, Brandon sat comfortably in his classic black tuxedo, a smug chuckle escaping his lips.
"Wow, too slow," Brandon said, loud enough for the nearby tables to hear.
A ripple of polite, cruel laughter echoed through the hall. Stephanie felt a tear slip down her cheek. But the humiliation wasn't over. Beverly, Brandon’s mother, leaned forward. Clutching her wine glass, her pearl brooch catching the light, she sneered openly.
"What a shame," Beverly whispered with venomous delight. "She doesn't even know how to sit properly. Quite embarrassing for our family."
Something inside Stephanie snapped. The pain of the fall vanished, replaced by an icy, burning resolve. She slowly wiped her tears and stood up. Without a word, she slid the massive, multi-carat diamond engagement ring off her finger and dropped it onto the table. It landed with a sharp, heavy clink.
Before Brandon could speak, the grand double doors of the hall swung open. A tall, imposing figure in a sleek black suit stepped in, holding a heavy leather briefcase. It was Gregory, her family's trusted attorney. Stephanie looked at her stunned groom and whispered, "My lawyer is already here."
