Previously: After her husband chose his manipulative mother's lies over her and physically shoved her, Mariana decided to show them who actually owned their luxurious empire.

A Price Too High to Pay

The next morning, Ryan and Eleanor arrived at the high-rise offices of Mariana’s legal team, desperate and disheveled. The arrogance that had defined them the night before was entirely gone. They were escorted into a sleek, glass-walled conference room where Mariana sat, wearing a sharp cream-colored suit that perfectly hid the scratch on her cheek. She looked every bit the powerful heiress she was.

Ryan threw himself into a chair, his hands trembling.

"Mariana, please. It was a mistake. I lost my temper. We can talk about this,"

he pleaded, his eyes darting to his mother, who stood silently behind him, looking suddenly very old and fragile. Mariana didn't blink. She slid a manila folder across the table. Inside were the divorce papers, already signed by her, along with an eviction notice for the mansion.

"You chose your mother's lies over your wife, Ryan. And then you put your hands on me," Mariana said, her voice echoing with absolute authority. Eleanor stepped forward, trying to find her voice.

"You can't do this to us, Mariana! We are the Sterlings!"

Mariana offered a cold, pitying smile. "You were the Sterlings because of my family's grace. Today, you are just two people who owe millions to creditors they cannot pay."

The divorce was finalized in record time. Without Mariana's backing, Ryan's company collapsed, and the mansion was auctioned off to the highest bidder. Ryan and Eleanor were forced to move into a cramped two-bedroom apartment, their names permanently tarnished in high society. Mariana, meanwhile, healed her wounds and rebuilt her life on her own terms, stronger and more respected than ever. She learned that true power isn't about the wealth you hold, but the self-respect you refuse to let anyone break.

The End
