Previously: After losing his wife, Richard trusted her sister Eleanor to help care for his young daughter, Lily. But a secret security camera feed on his phone reveals a terrifying, heartbreaking reality.

The Confrontation

The sound of the door slamming open echoed through the high ceilings of the foyer. Eleanor spun around, her face instantly draining of color as Richard stepped into the light. His chest rose and fell with heavy, ragged breaths, his dark blue blazer slightly disheveled. For a fraction of a second, Eleanor looked like a trapped animal, but she quickly recovered, smoothing her hair and plastering on a fragile, deceptive smile.

"Richard! You're home early," Eleanor stammered, her voice high and forced. "We were just... doing some light chores. Lily was learning about responsibility, weren't you, sweetie?"

But Lily didn't look at her aunt. The moment she saw her father, she dropped the mop and sprinted across the wet marble, burying her face into his legs, sobbing hysterically. Richard knelt down, wrapping his strong arms around his daughter, kissing the top of her head. He could feel her trembling, a physical manifestation of the terror she had endured in his absence.

"Go to your room, Lily," Richard said softly, his voice trembling but gentle. "Daddy is here now. You're safe. Go on."

Lily nodded quickly and scrambled up the stairs, leaving the two adults alone in the grand foyer. Richard stood up slowly, his eyes locked onto Eleanor. The warmth in his eyes was completely gone, replaced by a freezing, lethal glare.

"Get out of my house," Richard said, his voice deadly quiet. "You have ten minutes to pack your things, or I will throw them onto the lawn myself."

Eleanor's fake smile finally vanished, replaced by a cold, arrogant smirk. She crossed her arms, chewing her gum slowly once more.

"I don't think so, Richard," she whispered. "You see, my sister Sarah made sure I was taken care of. Before she died, she signed a document granting me co-ownership of this property. If you try to kick me out, I will tie you up in court for years. And I'll make sure the custody battle for Lily ruins you."
