Eleanor descended the stairs, her heels clicking ominously against the hardwood.

"That is enough!"

she barked, her eyes flashing with venom.

"Arthur, do not listen to this girl. She is a thief and a liar. I caught her snooping in my private study, and she stole that watch from my personal safe!"

Arthur's world tilted on its axis. He looked at his mother, whose pale face had suddenly turned a ghostly shade of white.

"That is a lie!"

Eleanor shrieked, though her voice lacked its usual conviction.

Sarah continued, looking directly at Arthur.
