My Mother-in-Law Sent a Casket to My Wedding—Then the Lid Opened
Previously: When Andrew’s mother sent a casket to our wedding, we thought it was a sick joke. But then, the lid began to open, revealing a dark family secret.
The laughter died instantly in our throats. I clutched Andrew’s arm, my knuckles turning white as the lid of the casket swung open. But it wasn't Eleanor who emerged from the velvet-lined interior. Instead, a pale, disheveled young woman sat up, gasping for air. Her blonde hair was matted, and she clutched a thick leather folder to her chest. My breath caught in my throat as I recognized her. It was Clara, Andrew’s former fiancée who had vanished two years ago under a cloud of suspicion.
Eleanor had claimed back then that Clara had stolen millions from the family's trust fund and fled the country. Andrew had been devastated, but now, Clara was sitting in a casket at our wedding, terrified and shaking.

"Andrew, you have to listen to me," Clara sobbed, her voice cracking. "I didn't steal the money. Eleanor locked me away in a private psychiatric facility to keep me quiet. She framed me. I escaped this morning with the help of a sympathetic guard, and they hid me in here to get me past her security."
The Matriarch Arrives
Before Andrew could even wrap his head around the revelation, the peaceful silence of the forest was shattered by the roar of a powerful engine. A massive black SUV tore through the clearing, crushing the wooden benches and scattering our terrified guests. The vehicle screeched to a halt just feet from the altar.
The doors flew open, and three burly security guards stepped out, followed by Eleanor. She looked immaculate, yet her face was twisted into a mask of pure fury. She glared at Clara, then at Andrew and me.
"Get her back in the box," Eleanor commanded her men coldly. "And Andrew, you are coming with me. This ridiculous farce of a wedding is over."
Andrew stepped in front of me, his chest rising and falling rapidly. "Touch her, and I swear to God, Mother, I will end you," he growled. But Eleanor only smirked, pulling a document from her designer handbag. She held it up, her eyes gleaming with malicious triumph.
