Previously: When Sarah tried to seize her late mother's home, her sister Elena stood on the porch with police and a secret document that changed everything.

Unearthing the Betrayal

Officer Miller, a seasoned deputy who had known the family for years, stepped forward, his boots crunching on the gravel driveway. He looked between the two sisters, his expression serious. "Alright, ladies," he said, his voice calm but firm. "We need to settle this peacefully. Sarah, do you have a deed, a lease, or a will that grants you residency here?"

Sarah stammered, her face flushing a deep crimson. She tried to maintain her aggressive stance, pointing an accusing finger at Elena. "Our mother wanted us both to have this house! It’s the family estate. Elena is just trying to cut me out because she’s always been jealous!" she cried, her voice echoing off the mountain slopes.

But Elena had anticipated this lie. She handed the clipboard to Officer Miller. "That is the official deed, signed and notarized six months before Mom passed away," Elena explained, her voice remarkably calm despite the storm of emotions inside her. "It transfers sole ownership of this property to me. And there is a very specific reason why Mom did that."

Sarah tried to grab the clipboard, but Officer Miller gently but firmly blocked her path. As the officer scanned the legal text, Elena took a step closer to her sister, her eyes shining with unshed tears of anger and grief. "Mom found out, Sarah," Elena whispered, loud enough for everyone to hear. "She found out about the bank accounts. She knew you stole her life savings while she was sick in the hospital."

The silence that followed was suffocating. Sarah’s jaw dropped, her eyes widening in pure terror. She had believed her financial manipulation had gone unnoticed, buried beneath the chaos of their mother's failing health. But the truth was finally out in the open, documented in black and white on the very papers Elena held.
