The sterile, cream-colored walls of the hospital hallway offered absolutely no comfort to Clara. At twenty-eight years old, heavily pregnant and experiencing sudden, sharp contractions, she had only wanted a single moment of peace while her loving husband, Arthur, stepped away to sign the final admission papers. Instead, she found herself completely cornered in the quiet corridor. Her younger sister, Vivienne, stood over her like a dark shadow. Dressed in a striking royal blue dress and sharp red high heels that clacked menacingly against the polished linoleum, Vivienne looked entirely out of place in the quiet maternity ward.

Before Clara could even call out for help, a wave of agony washed over her. She sank to the cold floor, clutching her mint green hospital gown. But there was no mercy in Vivienne’s eyes. With a cruel sneer, Vivienne raised her red heel and kicked Clara right in the side.

"You deserve this!"

Vivienne hissed, her voice dripping with venom. Clara collapsed onto her side, sobbing frantically as she shielded her belly.

"My baby! Please, stop!"

Clara screamed, her voice echoing off the sterile walls. Just then, a heavy wooden door swung open. Arthur, dressed in his charcoal grey suit, rushed out alongside Nurse Sarah, who was wearing light purple scrubs. Seeing the horrific scene, Arthur’s face paled with horror.

"Stop! What are you doing?"

Arthur shouted, his voice cracking with panic. He lunged forward, immediately throwing himself onto the floor to cradle Clara in his arms. Meanwhile, Nurse Sarah acted with professional authority, stepping between Vivienne and the vulnerable couple. She shoved Vivienne back with firm force.

"Get back, we're helping her!"

Sarah yelled, blocking the cold, unrepentant woman who simply stared down at them with a chilling smile.
