The Festive Nightmare

The mall was alive with the warmth of the holiday season. Pine garlands draped elegantly over the balconies, and vibrant red poinsettias lined the polished corridors. Shoppers bustled past, carrying bags of gifts, their laughter echoing under the bright concourse lights. But for Rebecca, the festive cheer evaporated the moment her husband, Ryan, cornered her. Wearing a dark blue suit jacket, his eyes were wild with an uncontrollable rage that she had never seen before.

Before Rebecca could scream, Ryan aggressively shoved her back, pinning her against a mirrored pillar. The cold glass bit into her spine.

"You think you can just walk away from me? You think you can ruin everything I've built?"
Ryan hissed, his grip tightening on her shoulders. Rebecca trembled, her voice caught in her throat as she looked into the eyes of the man she thought she knew.

Suddenly, a flash of bright orange burst through the crowd. It was Heather, Rebecca's sister. Seeing Rebecca trapped, Heather didn't hesitate. She rushed in from behind, grabbing Ryan by the shoulder of his suit jacket.

"Hey! Get off her!"
Heather screamed. With a surge of adrenaline, she forcefully pulled him back, using her momentum to kick his legs out from under him, sending him crashing to the polished floor.

The sudden violence left the surrounding shoppers gasping in shock. Rebecca stood trembling, clutching her face as tears streamed down her cheeks, while Ryan groaned on the ground, clutching his bruised hip. Within seconds, Officer Lewis, a mall security guard in a light grey uniform, rushed into the frame. His face was a mask of sheer disbelief.

"Hey! Hold on! What is going on here?"
he shouted, stepping between the sisters and the groaning husband.
