Leo looked from the cold, calculating eyes of his approaching grandfather to the desperate, tear-filled eyes of the father he had hated for a decade. In that split second, Leo chose to trust his father. He grabbed Clara’s hand, looking firmly at Richard. "Which way?" he demanded.

"Follow me," Richard whispered. He grabbed his briefcase, and together they sprinted toward the kitchen doors, ignoring the shouts of the restaurant manager. They burst through the bustling kitchen, past startled chefs, and out into the narrow alleyway behind the building. Richard’s car was waiting, its engine idling. They scrambled inside just as Arthur’s security guards burst through the kitchen exit.

Richard slammed on the gas, weaving through the tight city streets until they were safely away from the downtown area. As the tension in the car began to settle, Clara fell asleep in the backseat, exhausted from the ordeal. Leo turned to his father, the anger inside him finally melting into weary curiosity.

"What happens now?" Leo asked quietly, looking at the legal documents in his lap. "We can't run forever."

"We won't have to," Richard replied, a determined smile touching his lips. "With these documents and the bank records of my secret payments, we have enough proof of Arthur's coercion. I've already hired the best family lawyers in the state. We are going to fight him in open court, and this time, I am not backing down. I lost ten years with you, Leo. I won't lose another day."

Hearing those words, Leo felt a massive weight lift from his shoulders. He realized that the father he thought had abandoned them had actually been fighting for them in the shadows all along. As they drove toward a safe house, Leo reached out and placed a hand on his father's shoulder, ready to face the future together as a real family.
