Previously: When David handed his elderly mother a simple sack of rice in the freezing autumn rain, she thought it was a meager offering—until she looked inside and discovered a shocking truth.

A Mother's Ultimate Protection

When Rose arrived at the grand, imposing gates of Chloe’s estate, the rain had slowed to a miserable drizzle. She walked up the stone steps and knocked. The door swung open to reveal Chloe, looking immaculate and triumphant, standing next to a distraught David, who sat on a bench with his head in his hands.

"Did you bring it?" Chloe demanded, holding out her manicured hand. "Or should I dial the police department right now?"

Rose didn't flinch. She stepped past Chloe into the warm, opulent foyer. She pulled the white envelope from her pocket and tossed it onto the marble table. But as Chloe eagerly grabbed it and pulled out the contents, her smug expression instantly vanished. Instead of hundred-dollar bills, the envelope contained a sleek black flash drive and a legal document.

"What is this game, old woman?" Chloe snarled, her voice rising in panic.

From behind Rose, a tall man in a tailored overcoat stepped into the foyer. It was Arthur, Rose's older brother and one of the state's most prominent defense attorneys, whom Rose had called the moment Chloe hung up. Arthur held a familiar gold watch in his hand—David's father's watch, which he had quietly purchased back from the jeweler the moment he heard of David's plight.

"That flash drive contains the full recording of your extortion call tonight, Chloe, alongside months of documented financial abuse," Arthur stated calmly. "Under state law, this completely invalidates your prenuptial agreement's liability clauses. If you file for divorce, David will not walk away with nothing—he will walk away with half of everything you own."

David looked up, tears of shock and relief shining in his eyes. He stood up, walking past a speechless, trembling Chloe, and wrapped his arms tightly around his mother. For the first time in years, the heavy burden on his shoulders seemed to lift. He realized that his mother’s love was a shield no amount of wealth could ever pierce. True family loyalty cannot be bought, sold, or stolen; it is an unbreakable bond that weathers any storm.
