Previously: When cruel Diana forced her stepdaughter Lucy to scrub the marble floor of a luxury estate, she thought she was in total control—until the billionaire owner walked through the door.

The Fall of the Matriarch

A collective gasp rippled through the gathered crowd. Diana’s glass slipped from her fingers, shattering on the very marble floor Lucy had been cleaning. The expensive champagne mingled with the soapy water and spilled wine, but no one cared about the mess anymore. All eyes were locked on the tense standoff between the billionaire and the woman who had spent years playing the role of the grieving, wealthy widow.

"Are you insane?"
Diana hissed, her face flushed with a mixture of embarrassment and rage.
"Who do you think you are? This is my home! My late husband left this entire estate to me in his will. You have no right to stand here and threaten me!"

Richard took a slow, deliberate step forward, his polished leather shoes clicking sharply against the stone. He looked down at Lucy, offering her a brief, reassuring nod before turning his icy gaze back to Diana.

"Your late husband was my father, Diana,"
Richard said, his voice deadly quiet.
"And while you were busy manipulating him in his final days to rewrite his personal will, you forgot one very important detail. He didn't own this estate. Our grandfather did."

Diana froze, her breath catching in her throat. The smug confidence that had defined her for years began to evaporate, replaced by a creeping, paralyzing dread.

"Grandfather set up a blind family trust,"
Richard continued, opening his briefcase and pulling out a stack of legally sealed documents.
"The deed to this property, along with the family fortune, was always set to bypass our father and go directly to his eldest son. Me. Our father was merely a tenant. And since you were never legally his primary heir under the trust guidelines, you have been living here on my charity. Charity that has just run out."

The guests began to whisper, stepping away from Diana as if she were contagious. The social standing she had spent years building was turning to ash in a matter of seconds. Desperate and cornered, Diana lunged toward Lucy, her manicured nails clawing at the air.

"You did this!"
she screamed.
"You and your brother planned this to ruin me!"
