The judge slammed his gavel repeatedly, demanding order in his court. "Silence! Another outburst like this and I will have the courtroom cleared!" he bellowed. Arthur tried to use the distraction to drag his son toward the exit, whispering harsh promises of ruin if Leo didn't comply. But Leo planted his feet. He knew that if he walked out of those doors, Clara’s fate would be sealed, and he would become an accomplice to his father’s malice.

"Your Honor, my son is suffering from a severe nervous breakdown," Arthur lied smoothly, turning to the judge with a practiced, reassuring smile. "He has been under immense psychological stress and does not know what he is saying. I request a brief recess to get him medical attention." Arthur’s authority was magnetic, and for a moment, it seemed the judge might actually believe him. The defense attorney looked defeated, and Clara’s shoulders slumped in despair.

But Leo wrenched his arm free from his father’s grasp. He reached into his navy blue blazer and pulled out a small, sleek digital voice recorder. He held it high in the air so everyone could see it. "I am not crazy!" Leo declared, his voice steadying. "I have proof. On this recorder is a conversation from last night. It proves that the necklace was never stolen. It was hidden by my father to frame Clara because she discovered his illegal offshore accounts!"

A heavy silence fell over the room. Arthur’s face drained of all color, his polished composure shattering in an instant. He lunged forward, trying to grab the device, but the court bailiffs stepped in, restraining the older man. Arthur glared at his own son with pure, unadulterated hatred.

"If you play that tape, Leo, you will destroy this family. You will have nothing left,"
