A Shocking Accusation at Lunch

The sun beat down on the elegant, white-clothed tables of the Cliffside Resort patio, casting a warm glow over what was supposed to be a joyous family celebration. William, dressed in a sharp tan linen suit, smiled as he looked at his family. Beside him sat his wife, Olivia, radiant in a pastel pink dress. Across the table was his eight-year-old daughter, Ella, her crutches leaning against her chair. It was Ella's birthday, but the heavy shadow of her mysterious illness always lingered. For three years, Ella had been losing the strength in her legs, a condition that left top specialists baffled.

The peaceful atmosphere shattered when eight-year-old Lucas, the son of William's closest friend, stood up abruptly. His young face was pale, his eyes wide with a mixture of fear and determination. He stepped forward, pointing an accusing finger directly at Olivia.

"Your daughter can see!" Lucas yelled, his voice cutting through the quiet chatter of the upscale patio. "She poisoned her food!"

William froze, his fork hovering in mid-air. "Lucas, what are you talking about?" he asked, trying to maintain his composure. But the boy did not back down. He reached into a small burlap sack he had carried all day and pulled out an amber medicine bottle.

Behind Lucas, Ella slowly stood up. She slipped off her dark sunglasses, her eyes filled with tears, and looked directly at her father. Her voice was barely a whisper, yet it echoed like thunder in William's ears.

"Mommy gives it to me," Ella confessed, her lips trembling.

William’s gaze drifted down to the pristine white tablecloth. There, resting right beside Olivia’s designer handbag, was an identical amber bottle. Trembling, William reached out and picked it up. The resort patio seemed to tilt as he stared at the label. Beside him, Olivia stood completely frozen, the color draining from her face as her perfect facade began to crack.
